NYFW Nanette Lepore Fashion Show Summer/Spring 2015
Saying there were pops of yellow on the runway this season would be an understatement. Yellow was seen in overwhelming quantities this New York Fashion Week and Nanette Lepore's fashion show was a sunshine daydream, inspired by sunny California and the south of France.
The collection was yellow based with pastel pops in pink and blue. Nanette's color palette also included stark white, thin black stripes, and a mosaic looking floral design. Pieces were loose-fitted and airy with a sophisticated beach feel. There were flirty frocks, adorable sets, flowy caftans, off the shoulder dresses, chunky sandals, and whimsical swimsuits.
My favorite look of the collection is this vibrant yellow v-neck frock, which was also the opening look on the runway. I am crazy about the open v-neck collar. And it doesn't get better than a dress with pockets.
My second pick is this black and white striped set with a button overload. I would wear these looks in a heartbeat.
Nanette Lepore's daughter, Violet, who walks with Nanette every season to take a bow at the close of the show, surprised us all this season when she took to the runway by herself! Violet walked like a pro showcasing the finale look, a black and white embroidered caftan. But that was not the only surprise Nanette had in mind.
After Violet's finale walk, she and Nanette came back out leading two single file lines of the models. As soon as they reached the end, Nanette's husband and the rest of the models came out dancing "conga style!" Soon, all the models were part of the dance train, tempting us guests to jump out of our seats to join them.
The bright colored clothes and playful music alone inspired happiness, but the dance party took it to a whole new level.
Nanette Lepore has officially raised the bar.
This season, I was also sent the magical invitation to come party with Nanette after the show at her after party on the Dream Hotel's rooftop. It was a night to remember, so make sure to come back and read about it!
