NYFW Nanette Lepore Spring 2014 Fashion Show
Nanette Lepore was the first fashion show I was invited to and the last show I attended this Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week, with many other incredible shows in between. It was absolutely magical, full of red, white, and ditzy floral prints. Nanette Lepore brought a girly, romantic vibe to the runway, befitting her collection's title, "Neo Romantic." From the first look, I knew this collection was bound to be one of my favorites, and it was.
Nanette Lepore's Spring collection incorporated many beautiful separates and I especially loved all the flirty dresses and skirts. They were so polished and chic with lengths varying from above the knee to maxi. I can see women wearing these looks to work or on a brunch-and-shopping day with the girls. Celebrities are sure to pick up some of these pieces as well for their days off. Nanette Lepore also sent some amazing jumpsuits and swimwear down the runway, one red jumpsuit in particular standing out.
She remained within her overall red, white, and blurred daffodil theme throughout, but occasionally strayed to throw in some P.O.C (pops of color) of chartreuse and aqua, which complimented the collection beautifully.
The majority of Nanette Lepore's collection comprised of flowy dresses accented with ruffles and whimsical embroidery and she paired each look with chunky heeled sandals. The sandals mixed the hard and soft, which is something I have come to appreciate after hearing Heidi Klum praise the combo so often on Project Runway.
TRESemme was in charge of styling and models were given gorgeous coral lips and the perfect loose, slightly waved hair that I have already started practicing.
Celebrities in attendance included Revenge stars Gabriel Mann and Margarita Levieva, Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford, editor-in-chief of Marie Claire Joanna Coles, and Vampire Diaries' star Candace Accola (whom I was most excited to see).
If Fashion Week had to end, I am happy it had to end with Nanette Lepore. It was an absolutely amazing show and I can only hope to be invited back next season.
