All in NYFW Spring/Summer 2016
Versatile Stripes: The brand has taken stripes to a whole new level. Be it horizontal or vertical, black and white or multicoloured, this collection has it all. They have used thin vertical stripes to create the sweet girly look and broader ones for a smart look. The contrast of thinner and broader stripes is really eye-catching.
Nanette had managed to beautifully orchestrate a sense of "inside out" in her collection. Pieces were either bright and full of electric colors or more detailed and monochromatic. Some pieces even included a collaboration with Eddie Eddie by Billy Tommy and had phrases embroidered on them for a fun and youthful twist. However, all pieces were perfectly strung together by Nanette's signature gyspy-like aesthetic. People danced, admired the beautiful collection, and snapped pictures.
The collection was bold and bright, with colors like neon pink, emerald green, and bright yellow lighting up the runway. Necklines were deep, slits were high, and sleeves were long. A trend that I noticed taking over the runway and the crowd was jumpsuits and bodysuits. They are definitely making a strong comeback!
The collection itself featured loose silhouettes accented by structured coats, floral lace embellishments, and bright pops of color, with a focus on the color block trend. What I wasn't expecting was the use of fur as embellishment--on shirt sleeves, pom pom scarves, and belt bags, hinting that maybe fur accessories are on their way back in.
I am definitely feeling the "White Out" vibe from this collection--loving the simplicity and minimalistic feel of the overall presentation, which highlights the clean cut design of all the pieces!
