NYFW Desigual Fashion Show Summer/Spring 2015
The Desigual fashion show always gets me excited because it's basically code for, "You're about to see a Victoria's Secret angel walk." Somehow over the years I've pretty much met every one of the angels, but seeing them walk never gets old.
The first angel I ever met was Lily Aldridge who interviewed me a couple years back at Fashion's Night Out. Then there was Karlie Kloss who opened for the Anna Sui fashion show that changed my life. I was at the Cell for Gratitude party with Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn, which was probably one of the best nights I've had since becoming a fashion blogger, and I accidentally walked into a Candice Swanoepel meet-and-greet at the Victoria's Secret on 5th Ave. I was yet to see Adriana Lima; however, so I was ecstatic when I heard she would be opening for Desigual this season.
The collection was the usual assortment of whimsical patterns and bright colors. The best and probably the only way I can think to describe the collection is by calling it a tribal floral infusion. There was an overload of fabric and color blocking, each look finished with a floral crown.
The models practically skipped down the runway, blowing kisses and holding signs that said things like, "Happy to be here." Their walk and the upbeat music brought an intense energy that swept over the entire audience.
And because somehow this always happens to me, I actually happened to be seated next to the designers. They were speaking Spanish the whole time, but I overheard them gossiping about Olivia Palermo and Poppy Delevingne, so I asked them where they saw the two socialites. After pointing out Olivia and Poppy sitting dead center in the front row, they somehow managed to sneak into the conversation that they were the designers of the collection. I didn't speak much to them about it since they immediately switched back to Spanish, but it was great watching their reactions as the looks walked the runway.
