5 Ways You Can Make Your Eyes Pop

5 Ways You Can Make Your Eyes Pop

Many people consider the eyes as the most attractive part of one’s face — windows to the soul, and all. There’s no denying that because it’s a very prominent feature, people can’t help but notice the eyes first. Because of this, your eye makeup, or the lack thereof, can make or break your look. It’s important to understand what different types of eye makeup can do to your appearance. Accentuating your eyes is a matter of knowing the areas you should draw attention to and away from. So, keep reading to learn about our best tips for big, bold eyes.

Tend to the brows
Regardless of your preference, well-groomed eyebrows really make a difference. After all, brows move and attract attention, especially as you react to conversations and interact with others. Makeup artists suggest using a brow pencil, pomade, or a gel that’s close to your natural hair color for a quick, defined look. And remember: when filling in your brows, a straighter shape can make you more innocent, while a higher arch works best for a fiercer, more mature appearance. For those with already fluffy brows, you might want to try the soap brow trend popularized this year.

Give your lashes TLC
One to two coats of mascara can wake up your eyes in an instant, but if you want perfect-looking lashes, don’t skip the eyelash curler. Mascara can darken your lashes, making them appear fuller. Plus, it makes your eye color stand out more. But for those who aren’t blessed with naturally thick lashes but want a more long-term solution, you could also try out a lash serum. Lash serums work to maintain moisture, improve lash durability, and protect your delicate lashes from falling out. So, look for products with peptides and vitamins that are sure to nourish your lashes. Either way, these solutions are sure to accentuate your eyes more.

Swipe on the liner
If you’re in a hurry, a swipe of your favorite liner can do the trick. Typically, liquid liner is best on the top lash line, while a gel or pencil can be used for both the top and lower lash line. This is because a liquid liner dries out faster, while the latter two can give you ample time to smudge the product around. Like mascara, the contrasting eyeliner can make your eyes look wider and more awake. That being said, be careful not to overdo the liner! Too much of it actually makes your eyes look smaller and draws attention to the makeup rather than your gaze.

Play with color

Trends come and go — some of which come right back around. The blue eye makeup trend of the ’80s has once again been making its rounds in the makeup world. And it just so happens that blue eyeshadow, or other colors like pink or green, can be a nice way to put some fun into your look. It might also bring out your natural eye color. If you’re a little reluctant to go for an all-out color explosion, you can try using colored eyeshadow as a liner, or apply it on your inner corners for a pop of brightness.

Highlight right
Makeup is all about playing around with highlights and shadows to make your features pop. But you don’t need tons of contouring to do that. All you need is an eyeshadow or powder that’s a few shades darker than your skin tone and another one that’s a few shades lighter. Use a blending brush to smoke out your crease, or the hollow part of your eyes, then take the lighter shade and highlight your inner corners and your brow bone. This trick creates depth, dimension, and a bit of drama around the eyes.

Play around with any of these methods to see which combinations suit your personal style the best! Which one of these tricks are you going to try out first? Let us know in the comments section below. And for more beauty reads, check out the rest of our website.
