What Do Bloggers Still Pay For? // Monochrome Maroon Outfit + White Booties

It’s no secret, bloggers get free stuff, sometimes to the point that shopping is pretty much unnecessary. But even with all the surprise packages that show up at our doors, there are some expenses that just won’t go away.

  1. Rent
To be completely honest, I would trade all 500+ lipsticks I currently have in my closet for one month of free rent. And the craziest part? If you calculate the cost of all the lipsticks I’ve been sent over the last year, it actually totals way more than a month’s rent.

  2. Apple Computers/Phones/Electronics
Samsung, Dell, and I’m sure other electronics companies do plenty of gifting, but I’m an Apple girl, and as far as I know, Apple doesn’t work with bloggers.

  3. Cleaning Supplies/Appliances
Sure, you could always collaborate with cleaning supply companies, but it would probably be super random and may hurt the overall trust you have with your followers.

  4. Nespresso pods
And on that note, please sponsor me, Nespresso. My husband and I are huge fans and we may as well set up recurring shipments at this point.

  5. Furniture
I’ve been able to use some gift cards I’ve received to purchase some small items like lamps and night tables, but it’s a little more difficult to get a brand to sponsor your dining room set.

  6. All Amazon purchases
That includes toilet paper and all the other random things my husband and I convince ourselves we need during our late night scrolls.

  7. Clothes I want to actually wear...like tomorrow
I have a rule of not wearing clothing I receive until after I shoot in them, so as not to risk getting anything dirty. That means I could sometimes stare at a dress for two weeks before actually getting to wear it out.

  8. Designer Clothes
There are tons of bloggers who receive free designer pieces, but you definitely need the following for that.

  9. Food
Restaurants will gladly host bloggers in exchange for coverage, but unless you plan on eating out every day, someone’s gotta pay the grocery bill.

  10. Subway rides
Every once in awhile, a brand sends over free Uber rides to get you to and from their event and I’m not gonna lie, it’s better than any gift bag, but I’ve yet to see a brand sponsor anyone’s monthly metro card.

These types of posts usually stem from questions I receive in my inbox, so if you’re ever wondering about what it’s actually like living inside the influencer bubble, just shoot me an email at pr.esthersanter@gmail.com and your question may just become the subject of my next post.
