NYFW Erin Fetherston Autumn/Winter 2014 Presentation
Erin Fetherston is destined to be a household name. Her collection was absolutely beautiful, royal almost, inspired by mid century beauty. Erin pulled inspiration from old studio photography and the Barbizon Hotel, a residence and charm school in one, which was home to icons like Grace Kelly and Cybill Shepard.
Erin Fetherston showed off her collection at The Great Room at Union Square. She arranged her models across a stage, having them pose in various positions. One model was seated on a small step ladder and another was on a stool with her hands elegantly placed on top of a short stack of books on her lap. The majority of the models stood for the full hour of the fashion presentation, giving fierce faces whenever a camera was directed at them.
The model posing in the middle of the stage wore a black shirt with white cursive writing across saying, "Charmed, I'm sure." And charmed I was. Erin Fetherston's collection was beyond charming, romantic, and feminine.
In an interview she gave during the presentation, she emphasized her mission to follow her instincts, not trends, in order to make beautiful clothes for women today.
The hair and makeup Erin chose played a huge role in the overall presentation because her goal was to create continuity within the collection. She aimed to make the models look as if they are all friends attending the same party.
Her collection consisted mainly of cocktail dresses, varying from muted tones to emerald greens and sapphire blues. She used floral and brocade prints as well as sheer accents. I loved her interpretation of the crop top, a flared out sophisticated version of the tube top which she paired with long high waisted skirts.
I especially admired the Hardly Alice gloves and Manolo Blahnik shoes Erin used to accessorize her collection. The gloves were sheer mesh covered in white pearls and the Manolos were partially see-thru pointy toe heels.
Erin Fetherston's husband, Gabe Saporta, the lead of Cobra Starship, was there to support her. Cutest couple ever.
Below are my absolute favorite shots from the Erin Fetherston Autumn/Winter 2014 look book, which I actually just found out someone I know helped create. Small world.
