NYFW Jonathan Cohen Fashion Presentation Fall/Winter 2016

The second Esther and I walked into the space where the Jonathan Cohen presentation was being held, I smelled chlorine. I am super familiar with the smell because I was a lifeguard for years and the smell always brings back fun memories. We were directed to the women’s restroom where they took our coats and then led us into a bathhouse. It was humid, hot, and smelled amazing- I was in heaven. The clothing was all suspended above miniature pools on paper mache mannequins. The styling was very ghostly and eerie. Jonathan talked to us about his collection and his choice for the unique space. He said he was entranced by the elegance of the location and just wanted to interrupt it with his clothes. He also spoke about his clothing as being very wearable pieces for today’s woman that are transitional from day to evening. The collection consisted of felt mixed with lace and tulle. The predominate color palette was red, black and white. I was sad to leave the show because it was so warm in the bathhouse and it was so SO cold outside, but we had to keep up with our packed schedule and skedaddle.
