NYFW Charlotte Ronson Fashion Show Fall/Winter 2014
Receiving my invitation to the Charlotte Ronson fashion show produced a similar reaction to when I received my first Nanette Lepore invite, pure elation and intense excitement. Charlotte Ronson's collection always has a raw energy. Her designs are simultaneously edgy and pretty, lace mixed with leather, sheer inserts with black wide-rimmed hats. Charlotte Ronson is always right on trend while pushing boundaries.
My favorite part of the collection was Charlotte Ronson's leather details, particularly the front crossed suspenders and scalloped leather neckline. The scalloped neckline was also incorporated in Charlotte Ronson's black jumpsuit look with sheer sleeves.
Aside from the unavoidable exhaustion brought on by Fashion Week, the only real downside is my lack of a fashion show sidekick. So, I was beyond excited to bring a friend with me and have her follow in my fashion show crashing footsteps. The presentation took place at The Hub Hudson Hotel, so I felt it would be the perfect opportunity to sneak her in.
Apparently, my friend and I arrived at Charlotte Ronson's fashion presentation at the same time as the VIP guests because as we walked in, I turned to my left and nearly ran into singer/actress Zendaya. She is so much taller than I would have expected, but was so sweet and stopped for a minute to take a picture with me and chat.
My friend slipped past the PR people while I stopped to check in. When we met back up a few minutes later in the hotel basement for the presentation, she casually mentioned that she just saw Paris Hilton by the elevator.
The room had a club ambience with dimmed lights and celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson, who also happens to be Lindsay Lohan's ex and Charlotte Ronson's sister, sitting at the front DJing.
My friend and I hung out by Samantha for a few minutes until Paris Hilton, her sister Nikki Hilton, Jesse Metcalfe, and Jesse's fiancée walked in. People swarmed around them immediately, but we cut in and got pictures with each of the celebrities. When Jesse Metcalfe smiled, he literally looked like he stepped off the set of John Tucker Must Die. As for Paris Hilton, I swear the first thing I heard her say was, "That's hott."
