We Always Adapt // Floral Embroidered Cream Sweater + Pink Zipper Skirt
Before switching my blog and all associated social media handles to my name, I was seriously distraught over the idea of completely erasing my Louboutins & Love roots. I had spent three years promoting the kitchy name, educating people how to spell the word Louboutins, and making myself known in the fashion industry only to do a full rebrand. But wanna know something? It was the best move I ever made.
I was scared people would unfollow because they didn’t recognize the name. Some did. I was nervous I would feel sad about the change. I did at first. I was concerned people wouldn’t be as interested in reading a self-named blog. Maybe that was true in the past.
But people always adapt and eventually even forget what came before.
As a girl from St. Louis, moving to New York City was a complete change of pace for me. I was getting lost everywhere I went and learning how to ride the subway was quite the challenge. Then one day, it all just clicked… I finally understood what people meant when they said NYC is just a grid. I realized downtown doesn’t just mean Soho and all of a sudden, getting directions starting with, “Go north out of the subway,” wasn’t as scary anymore, although I can’t say it was anymore helpful either. The point is that we always adapt.
So if you’re going through a rough patch, know that nothing stays the same forever and we always, eventually adapt. The boyfriend you thought you could never live without, the school you’re starting where you don’t know anyone, the new job in a field you know nothing about… No one said it’s easy, but in time, you will adapt. We always do.
