Polka Dot Wrap Dress + Statement Earrings // My 5 Blogging Rules While On My Honeymoon

With my honeymoon just a couple days away, my husband and I have been setting down the ground rules in order not to turn our romantic getaway into a blogger trip. It wouldn’t be realistic to put my camera away altogether since it’s not often that I’m in Europe, surrounded by the most scenic backdrops, but there definitely needs to be a limit. Here are the 5 rules we set in order to keep the boundaries clear and eliminate what could have potentially become issues while we’re away.

1. No sponsored content.
   This was a hard one for me because a honeymoon is not cheap, and to be honest, I haven’t bought my own clothing in a really long time. Buying enough outfits for 14 days, plus the shoes and accessories to go along, was a serious expense. The last thing either of us want though is to have to pause throughout the day to shoot required content. My husband’s not a photographer, so we would both just end up frustrated when we couldn’t get “the shot.”
2. Only shoot when the conditions are good.
   My husband is my biggest fan and he understands just how important taking pictures is to growing my business. As I won’t be hiring anyone while we’re away, the role of photographer will be placed on him, but in order to keep the photo taking to a minimum, we agreed only to shoot in good conditions. Rather than spend unnecessary time editing imperfect photos, we’ll only take photos when we can get a clear shot in natural light. That means the second it turns dark or whenever we’re amongst throngs of people, the camera goes away.
3. Hotel collabs are okay.
   Since I’ve never worked with hotels before, I was nervous to go this route, especially since I’ll be relying on my husband to take the pictures, but we decided to give it a try for one of our stays. My husband agreed to this after seeing the astronomical European hotel prices. We’d also love to travel more and adding hotel content to my blog will help open doors.
4. No food photos.
   This doesn’t apply to coffee shots at cute cafes, but nothing ruins a romantic dinner more than having to wait to eat your food.
5. If the photos aren’t coming out well, move on.
   I’ve learned a long time ago not to try and force a photo. Sometimes an outfit doesn’t photograph well or a backdrop just doesn’t look good with what you’re wearing... if that’s the case, move on and try again later. I’ve literally packed up and gone home mid-shoot before if I see the photos aren’t coming out well. No content is better than mediocre content.
