Where We're Going For Our Honeymoon // Black Silk Jumpsuit + Bow Mules
In honor of our 6 month anniversary which is today, I decided to write this post to let you all into our honeymoon plans. To be completely honest, I haven’t been keeping track of our month to month anniversaries and I only realized we’d be hitting six months this past Friday when it came up in conversation. We’ll be going out to dinner tonight to celebrate, but we both don’t take the monthly anniversaries too seriously and are much more looking forward to the big 1 year, although it’ll be Rosh Hashanah and probably not too exciting on the day of.
When thinking about honeymoon destinations, we both agreed that we wanted somewhere relaxing, but with plenty to do. We’d both go crazy just sitting on the beach for two weeks straight, so I suggested Costa Rica. It’s somewhere neither of us have been yet and it’s full of adventure activities like zip lining, rappelling, and snorkeling. We spoke about it for a couple months before finally sitting down to book flights, but as we were looking at tickets, my husband made a comment that he always wanted to go to Europe.
I used to live in Paris, so Europe had never even crossed my mind as a honeymoon destination, but the second my husband mentioned it, I knew I would be thrilled to go back. Since it’s important for me to go to places I’ve never been as well, we started looking at a map to build out a Euro-trip. We decided to start in Amsterdam since it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go and because it’s only a 3 hour train ride to Belgium, we figured that would be our second stop. We still have to decide if we want to visit another country after Belgium, but we know the trip will end in Paris, so we booked flights into Amsterdam and returning from Paris. The flights portion of the trip is the only part of the planning I’ve managed to do so far, so I’ve got a lot of work ahead, but I’m excited to spend two weeks getting lost in Europe with my husband. And I really do mean getting lost because I’m absolutely terrible at directions.
A part of us wants to squeeze in as many countries as possible, but we may leave it at Amsterdam, Belgium, and Paris, just so we can relax on our honeymoon and not feel like we’re living on the train. I’ve never been out of the country with my husband before, so it will be interesting to see his travel style. I always make a list of the must-see attractions in each city, but then I just like to explore. I know he will definitely be down to explore, but it may take some convincing to get him to go to more than one museum.
Feel free to send any recs you may have on where to stay and what to do, and I’ll keep you posted as we prep for our trip!
