Cake Decorating With Zola
I haven’t posted about a blogger event in a long time, mostly because it’s hard to get good photos, but also because I generally like to put the camera down for the night and just hang out with whatever friends I run into there. The Zola event was too perfect not to get a picture though. They had a decked out van, called the Registry On Wheels, filled with beautiful appliances and home decor pieces that you could add to your Zola wedding registry, parked alongside the waterfront in downtown Manhattan. It was a gorgeous, although slightly cold, day and I stopped by around 3pm when the lighting was just right.
There was an adorable sitting area, someone recording love stories inside the van, and my favorite part, a cake decorating station. Magnolia Bakery, one of my favorite NYC spots to grab a pastry, gave each of us a mini vanilla cake to decorate. There were all sorts of colored buttercream frostings, edible glitter, and pearls to use. I was tempted to just dump glitter all over my cake, but I decided to give myself a bit of a challenge and learn how to create drop petals. I could definitely use more practice, but I’m happy to have a new skill which I may just apply on my husband’s next birthday cake.
