Long Floral Wrap Dress // West Kei
I recently posted a photo wearing this dress on Instagram and I don’t think I could say it better than I did in my caption, “You couldn’t find an easier breezier dress than this one from West Kei.” People have stopped me in the street to ask where it’s from because it is seriously perfect. This dress is the softest, most comfortable throw on dress I have ever owned. It is literally butter against your skin. I especially like the fact that I can wear it from work to an event, making it more or less casual just by changing my shoes from sandals to heels.
Someone recently told me that my blog photos have gotten so fancy. I never viewed myself as a fancy dresser, but more and more I’m realizing that I just appreciate the beautiful things in life. I die over a gorgeous dress, especially when it’s got a killer floral pattern and wrap detail. I’m also all about comfort. I used to wear heels on the daily. I’m talking 4 inches on hour long subway commutes with multiple train transfers and while running around the office back when I worked in fashion. My creative director at my fashion job hated when people wore heels at the office because of the noise they made. After getting yelled at one too many times for my heels clicking against the floor, I decided to switch to lower heels and eventually even trendy white sneakers. Once I went to sneakers, I just could never go back to anything less than comfortable. I now live in mules and sandals and booties. Heels are necessary when shooting to give myself a little height, but now I definitely believe there’s a time and place for them, and it’s not in my day to day life. That is definitely not the case though for this dress. I’ve worn it to work, to the grocery store, to blogger events, and even to LIM college when I spoke to a group of students. Call it love. I do.
