Tommy Hilfiger // L&L Designer Spotlight

When it comes to American designers and fashion, there is usually one name at the top of the list, Tommy Hilfiger. Since the preppy, all-American brand was founded in 1985, Tommy Hilfiger has acted as head designer. The brand’s main influences are rock and roll, other music subcultures, beautiful places in the world, and of course, New England’s classic waspy collegiate look.

Tommy’s latest collection that walked the runway this past Fashion Week (SS/16), was based around his Mustique summer home in St. Bart’s, Jamaica. With beautiful crochet pieces, bucket hats, 70’s inspired colors and silhouettes, his show was a clear hit. Hilfiger is a legend in the industry, dressing celebrities, models and even the Rolling Stones!

The next big thing for Tommy is a new line to be spearheaded by supermodel Gigi Hadid. The line will be called Gigi and will feature her personal style mixed with the Tommy Hilfiger brand. Tommy said he was very taken by Gigi because she isn't “anorexic” and has a “real woman’s” body. He is also impressed by the success she’s achieved at such a young age. The Gigi x Tommy Hilfiger line is set to make its debut Fall 2016. I am so excited to see what’s in store for Gigi’s line, as well as what’s coming for NYFW in February!
