Every time my husband and I even consider moving away from New York, I know it would never work as long as I’m active in the NYC blogging event scene. Branded events have literally replaced my social life, and I can’t say I mind too much. The event spaces are amazing, there’s generally an open bar all night, and I always know I’m going to bump into at least one friendly face anywhere I go. The gift bags don’t hurt either. ;)

Because I’m at events so often (sometimes 3 in a night!), I get a lot of questions about what happens there. Every event is different, but I figured I’d go through the different types. I discussed what happens at press previews in a previous post, but essentially it’s where a designer showcases his or her new collection to the press to create some buzz. You can spend as little as 5 minutes at a preview depending on how busy the PR person showing you the collection is, but I generally take 15-20 minutes to document my favorite pieces.

Most of the events I go to revolve around product launches, and those are always my favorite. I love being introduced to a new product and seeing all the creative ways the brand tied it into the decor. Hands down, Becca Cosmetics throws THE greatest parties, and I will never forget the launch of their Glow Glossary. Becca rented out a seven floor event space and filled every crevice with another Instagrammable moment, from a bathtub filled with plastic balls to a room of cozy teepees. The cocktails were served in light bulbs, the pool was lit up with branded orbs, and shirtless male models walked around all night, some even feeding guests strawberries as they lied on a velvet couch.

Other events are simply to celebrate a specific holiday or season. One agency I work with threw a particularly amazing Winter Wonderland event this year that showcased many of their brands in beautifully arranged stations, including a hot chocolate bar, which was my favorite stop.

Gifting suites are probably as exciting as it gets. You are invited to literally walk the room and take home one of everything you see. I have an entire wardrobe of workout gear from one gifting suite I went to, and a new jewelry collection from another.

I think that about covers the types of blogger events I attend in NYC. Make sure to stay tuned to my Instagram page to see all the behind the scenes fun!
