Betsey Johnson // L&L Designer Spotlight

If anyone knows anything about Betsey Johnson, you know that she is full of colorful, crazy, and whimsical fun, which is what her brand is all about! Betsey Johnson provides insight into her personality through her line of handbags, apparel, accessories, shoes and more! I was fortunate enough to experience the world of Betsey Johnson when I worked the show this past NYFW. Her show was held at The Arch Skylight at Moynihan Station, and my job was to check in guests and show them to their seats. It was a very simple job, but the guests that flooded through the doorway were far from simple. From the looks of the people coming to see the show, I knew that their outfits were Betsey inspired. I was surrounded by the most avant garde attire, from crazy color palettes to eccentric silhouettes and quirky hairstyles. The venue quickly turned into a walking art museum!  

After check-in, I was one of the lucky few that actually sat down with the guests (Thank God for seat fillers!) and watched the entire show. The show was just as fun as Betsey herself! The models ripped the runway with the most colorful hair, makeup, and wardrobe I have ever seen. I was able to experience firsthand what it is like to see a production come together. Watching the show was a surreal experience. I was taken through the decades of how Betsey Johnson would have dressed in the roaring 20s all the way through the grunge 90s. I also got to see the famous split that Betsey does at the end of each show followed by a couple of cartwheels!

Betsey Johnson is such a unique designer in the fashion industry. Her carefree spirit sticks out amongst the rest of the designers and you can’t help but love her signature girly pink and black color schemes. Her designs make you feel young and fun no matter what age. Trust me, you’re not living if you don’t have a little Betsey Johnson in your life!
