NYFW Tadashi Shoji Fashion Show Fall/Winter 2015
Welcome back, New York Fashion Week! I'm tired already.
I spent the last ten days procrastinating planning my outfits for the next week, a Fashion Week ritual that any exhausted fashion show attending blogger knows is high priority. Once the shows begin, every day is a mad dash from one fashion show to the next, then often a trip home for a quick outfit change before that night's after-party.
If you don't have your outfits meticulously prepared and laid out for the week, good luck remembering both of your shoes.
This season my Fashion Week kicked off with the Tadashi Shoji Fall/Winter 2015 fashion show. Arriving with thirty minutes to spare, I stepped into the great white tents and took a moment to breathe in the excitement. There were the standard booths, Papyrus cards, a Pandora Jewelry run photobooth, a pop-up TRESemmé hair salon... And there was the usual array of attendees: the fashion editors, the wannabee editors, the bloggers, and the obvious crashers (the dead giveaway being their bulging bags stuffed with twenty free water bottles and a couple mini hairsprays).
As I saw the crowds start pouring in, I made a beeline to the Salon, one of the smaller showrooms, to wait in line for the Tadashi Shoji fashion show. I covered Tadashi Shoji's Spring/Summer fashion show last season so I knew to expect truly beautiful pieces, but his collection this season raised the bar, yet again.
I was completely enamored with his Fall/Winter looks! The collection, inspired by Beauty of Flight, consisted of an assortment of his signature evening gowns and delicate beaded dresses, accented with heaps of feathers. The color palette was black, white, and the most beautiful purple and green jewel tones.
Tadashi's aerial inspired collection included cape sleeves, organza gowns, and beading resembling feathers. The full feather skirts were my absolute favorite pieces and I need one of his feather jackets in my closet ASAP.
The celebrities who graced the front show were Kesha, Miss J. Alexander, Lloyd Boston, Yang Zishan, Song Jia, and Courtney Kerr. I can't say I know who the last three celebs are, but Kesha seemed nice. As for Miss J, I've met him at least three times now and every time we've spoken, he acts as if he is in a huge rush and is not very excited to take a picture with me, or anyone else.
