NYFW Supima Design Competition Fashion Show Hosted By Rachel Zoe

I am not sure what could be more exciting than receiving an invitation to a fashion show hosted by one of my all-time favorite designers and style icons, Rachel Zoe. To top that off, moments after opening my Supima Design Competition Fashion Show e-vite, an additional invitation arrived in my inbox asking for my presence at the Supima after party taking place at the Empire Hotel Rooftop.

However exciting that was, realizing the fashion show date clashed with the high holidays was about as devastating. Needless to say, the show went on without me, Rachel Zoe came and went (although late she was), and here I am on a Sunday night watching fashion show reruns.

Congratulations to Morgan Selin from the Rhode Island School of Design who won the $10,000 cash prize! She competed against seven other highly talented fashion designers from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Kent State University, and Savannah College of Art and Design, winning with her collection of galaxy-like flowy, blue gowns. Morgan incorporated in her designs heavy draping from the waist-down as well as interesting necklines and a subtle ombre effect.

I saw an overwhelming amount of mint green on the runway as well as a play on florals, which were used structurally in the creation of multiple dresses. I've included my favorite runway looks below.
