NYFW Malan Breton Fashion Show Spring/Summer 2017
After running around all morning from show to show, it was refreshing to find out that the location for Malan Breton was just three blocks away from where I already was. When I walked into the Hammerstein Ballroom to enter the show, I was a bit hesitant because there was a lot going on. The entrance was a bit more difficult because I couldn’t just scan my ticket and walk in as I did with the previous shows. I had to head straight to the media check in because I was covering the show under a media pass. It made me a little nervous because I didn’t come with an obnoxious camera or tons of equipment in hand. I felt a bit out of place, but then I realized I wasn’t alone. This was the basic procedure for any sort of media outlet or influential blogger to go through. I had been to the Hammerstein Ballroom before for a concert and it looked very different than it did for the show. They did a great job giving the area a fashion show feel.
When I entered the seating area I immediately recognized a celeb. It was Frankie Grande, Ariana Grande’s brother! I don’t usually get starstruck so I am happy I am able to keep my cool around public figures. I must also add that he appeared in the show as well! How cool? The show was full of interesting surprises. There was an opening song and cultural dance and NeNe Leakes from The Real Housewives of Atlanta walked the runway too. A lot of the looks in the beginning were very mod and retro. Every single color from blush pink to gray were used throughout the show. Most of the looks were dresses, both long and short. His menswear looks were fabulous, with lots of orange toned accents. I felt like this collection can appeal to multiple customers and different tastes. He truly had something for everyone, men and women alike. His show was probably the longest of the day and it was definitely set apart from the rest.
